much of this is obviously attributable to differences in demographics rather than party affiliation.

If you compared Republicans and Democrats of similar educational levels, ages and incomes, I'm thinking that the gap would be pretty small.

Didn't someone once say (Harry Truman?) that if you want to get rich, vote Democrat. To stay rich, vote Republican
