Subject: CLRG is responsible for just 4 things and does ALL of them poorly.

CLRG is responsible for:

1) Running the fee and sponsor-supported All-Irelands

2) Running the fee and sponsor-supported World Championships

3) Running examinations

4) Establishing and keeping rules and regulations through volunteer committees.

CLRG has utterly failed at all 4 of these responsibilities. The All-Irelands and Worlds are poorly run, extremely expensive for dancers, and unfairly judged. The TCRG examination is an outdated, irrelevant, and ridiculous ceili memorization farce of a test proctored by people who will pass or fail you depending on their friends and enemies. And the committees who set the rules for everyone don't follow their own rules.

Why are we so desperate to keep CLRG solvent when the very few things they do, they do exceedingly poorly, often tainted by corruption, and at huge expense?

I cannot think of an organization that syphons so much money into itself and delivers so very little. I've yet to read any convincing argument that CLRG is in any way vital to the continuation of Irish dancing.

I left for these very reasons. They have completely shattered my love for Irish dancing. I keep an eye on things out of habit but I've lost all enthusiasm for it. Passing my TCRG was the proudest moment of my life. (NT) -- Gutted., 02:41:28 01/14/25 Tue

- Farcical separate exam section for ceili teaching vs written! Know one teacher who scored high marks on teaching but given failing mark on written ceili exam. how do you judge someone competent to TEACH but fail them in memorization of the same material?
