Lots of hotels close by, many with shuttles to the venue. And many are reasonably priced and have pools and include breakfast.

Yeah, you might want to rent a car, but there are Ubers. And if the hotel is cheap, that will offset the cost of uber.

This move makes me think CLRG might have a chance at survival as they appear to have done something that made financial sense. Schaumburg is no frills, but it is with 5 miles of O’Hare so pretty much everyone should be able to book a reasonably priced nonstop flight (except for Australians and New Zealanders, maybe we should set up a fund to help them out). And, as I said, lots of good hotel options and food options as well.

But the real beauty of Schaumburg is that CLRG is going to pull in gobs of money with teams. Pretty much every single team that dances at the MidAmerica O this fall will be at Worlds. There were more than 250 4-hand teams across all age groups at O last fall. There were around 80 8-hand teams. And these are just teams from the host region. I expect there to be a ton of teams from other US regions because Schaumburg is just about the easiest/cheapest venue to get to.

Congrats to CLRG for thinking outside the box.
