The four catagories presented provide a good description of most UBF members. Many UBF members fit into all four of the catagories or progressive through them while in UBF. Many people begin Bible study and become more active in UBf because of Catagory 2 - Social Aspects. The feeling that people care and the sense of belonging to a group that has a purpose encourages people to increase their level of commitment. Considering that new members are love bombed with much free food and many people listening to their every word, social aspects frequently serve as the initial indoctrination into UBF.

Catagory 3 - Elitist Mindset can also be found among new members. New members are subjected to weekly Bible studies and testimonies and then at quarterly conferences in which UBF is characterized as being a unique, special calling to live a mission life far superior to the cultural, casual, family-centered, easy-going life most Christians live.

The Social Aspects and the Elitist Mindset lead recruits into Catagory 1 - Obligation/Calling. The leaders seem to care about God's mission and to have a sincere desire to raise up the recruits to be great servants of God. Living as a great servant of God encourages commitment to UBF. The recruit as been taught that his/her shepherd(ess) along with the other local UBF leaders have bore with him/her for X years. Furhter, the recruit is taught that UBF leaders bore with him/her because it is God who calls him/her to serve his/her entire life in UBF.

When the recruits has accepted his/her calling and lives in a never-ending obligation toward leaders, he/she will soon begin to desire sheep of his/her own who will be obligated to them, placing them in Catagory Four - Power/Honor/Money. Many in this group who are not chapter directors secretly desire to pioneer another campus where they can control every aspect of the ministry as their shepherd does. In addition, the nondirectors who do not agree with the harsh, cruel, insensitive, unrepentant self-centeredness of UBF leaders, arrogently think that they will be kinder/gentler chapter directors only to find out that they are just controlling and abusive as their shepherds

In Christ,

PECAS
