Once I attended a Salvation Army worship service. Do you know what? The preacher and all leaders were dressed in army-like uniforms. They called each other "Lieutenant" and "Commander". Shouldn't you start a message board criticizing them?

The difference between the Salvation Army and UBF or between a real Army and UBF is that the authoritarian structures are transparent and clearly defined. They define a hiearchy for their practical work, and not a spiritual hierarchy. That's a big difference. You know about the authoritarian structures when you enter the Army. On the first day I went to the army, I had to learn all the different ranks of the hierarchy. In UBF, it took me ten years to learn it. UBF is like a hall of mirrors. You learn the rules and ranks by bumping against them only. The Salvation Army does not go around and claim they are an ordinary church or a campus ministry. They have written rules and regulations. They cooperate with the churches. They show social engagement. They have a doctrinal basis which they clearly name (Wesleyan-Arminian). They have a well-defined structure and rules that they lay open. They have financial and other accountability. The Salvation Army is so much different from UBF. Maybe one should write an article about that issue frequently brought up. Anyway, we are not talking about the Salvation Army here, but about UBF.
