Chris, perhaps one day you will wear me out with your constant calls for clarification... My point here is not that submission is "always mutual", but that it is not only one-way and that there are many mutual relationships. Since people are so quick to give stories that supposedly characterized UBF ministry, how about this story:

During a summer Bible conference, I was in the same group Bible study as Sarah Barry. Do you know what she did? She was not the group Bible study leader. She attended the study, listened to the group leader, made a few contributions and wrote and shared a testimony just as if she was a first year Bible student. I have seen so many examples of senior leaders acting like this that show me our ministry is not a pyramid scheme designed to serve some hidden agenda. The leaders are not afraid to teach obedience and commitment, but there are many examples of leaders serving, submitting, and learning.

I would agree with this point. UBF is more like an army than a company. That is not so strange. Apostle Paul uses the image of soldiers, armor and spiritual warfare quite effectively. No one can deny that Christians are in a spiritual war, fighting the good fight of faith.

Once I attended a Salvation Army worship service. Do you know what? The preacher and all leaders were dressed in army-like uniforms. They called each other "Lieutenant" and "Commander". Shouldn't you start a message board criticizing them?
