Robert,
I'd agree with Nick here: now that you had your eyes opened, you should be capable of fending for yourself. Also note that our prayers are with you so you're not totally on your own.

Do not worry about how you will be received by other Christians, I think you would be amazed to see how open-minded many outside a cultic environment are, they will accept you with your experience and maybe even learn something from you. You should not be afraid to be rejected or ridiculed for your past - I never had that problem, and I've met many, many Christians from all around the globe. It was more a care and concern than aversion which they express for my cultic experiences. You will see that also if you find a healthy church.

No one will think you are crazy, the experience of following an over-zealous group, believing you're doing God's will: happens to coincide with the record of Saul- nowadays known the Apostle Paul. Zeal isn't bad, but blind zeal can and most likely will end like that, even the Bible is a proof that until we have our eyes opened by the Lord Jesus, this zeal can lead us astray. But when the Lord opens our eyes, the religious systems which stole our freedom in Christ will become meaningless. That's a normal reaction.

My suggestion on how to approach others: simply, be open. Be honest. Be yourself. If they can't accept that, avoid them, if they accept it, feel at home.
Healthy churches can deal with a spiritual or emotional or psychological scar in their members, whereas cults will isolate such people since they "poison the body". Don't worry. With the Lord's mercy, you will be accepted and received - but don't imagine you'll get instant friends like in UBF. People will need to get to know you, and then friendships will form with those who can relate with you - it's a process. Give it time, and give it a chance.

I can't suggest any more, in the end it's up to how the Lord leads you.
Pray about it.

In Christ,
Mike K.
