Yes! everything I am doing now is because of my faith...God is changing everything for the better, little by little, as I trust in Him. To the mind, much of it makes no sense, but there are so many scriptures that tell us, as believers, not to trust in our mind, or in men, but rather, Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths. Prov 3:5,6. ~Chapter 2 of 1 Corin. and chapter 8 of Romans are also great places to read up on the importance of spiritual growth for the believer.

Joyce Meyer talks about it in her book, the Battlefield of the Mind. I would highly recommend it, if you haven't read it already. I have it, as well as many other books that you would be welcome to borrow, which have helped stir up my faith over the years, but ultimately none compare to reading the Scriptures outloud...This is the source of everything good in my life. Since I started doing this, about 4 years ago now, everything in my life has changed. And I know this is just the beginning for me. The more I grow in the Lord, the more I learn how far I have yet to go, but at the same time, the more encouraged I am to keep going. It's like going up a ladder, the view keeps getting better. I consider myself a toddler in the Lord now...compared to the premature infant that I was when I thought I knew something back on the first rung!

So much of God's Truth has been confirmed for me in the last few years as I have given up trying to do things in my own strength; trying to figure out everything with my mind; trying to control and manipulate events or people. I've gotten hooked up with a local church that teaches the Word of God and the fellowship has helped me to apply what I'm learning in my daily walk. God wants us to be hooked up with one another as believers in Jesus Christ, but not just to go through the motions of church as usual, but to really apply what the Word says in our daily lives and with each other.

I used to be an intellectual Christian. Intellectualizing the scriptures rather than letting them get down inside my spirit. I have learned to let go of worrying about things I have no control over. This hasn't been easy for me because of where I come from. As a thinker, and someone who has always made things happen, or so I thought, I've always taken pride in my abilities, my intellect and my ideas, giving myself the credit. It has been very humbling to come to the conclusion now at this point in my life that without Him I can do nothing, I am nothing and I have nothing. But with Him, as the scriptures say, All things are possible! (with an emphasis on the All!).

In 3 John 2 it says, Beloved, I pray that you may prosper and be in health, just as your soul prospers. This is important, because no matter how much we prosper and succeed in the natural, in this life, it is the prosperity of our soul that matters the most! If you are a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, you are already as rich as you are saved and you are already as healed as you are rich (this was a major revelation to my twisted, religious mind). He can't do anymore for you than He has already done! Because on the cross, as He died, He said, It is finished! He defeated the enemy and the power that sin had over us. Yes, we still sin, but we are not sinners; sinners still need to get saved!

This is why the bad things are not from Him, nor are they His way of teaching us something. He can't do anymore for us than He's already done and He can't stop what the devil is doing in our lives because He has already defeated the devil! Whatever happens to us, we need to remember always to stay on God's side. We are the only ones who can stop the devil from doing anything! How? By declaring it! By declaring that the devil is bankrupt when it comes to harming us in anyway whatsoever! The gospel is clear about this, but as Christians we need to hear it and believe it and start walking in the authority that we have as believers! In our business dealings, in our relationships, in our health, in every area of our lives, He wants us to prosper and be in health, but it begins and ends with our faith, which ultimately is the victory that has overcome the world!

He wants us to prosper and succeed. He wants us to be in health and be strong in order that the world might see and know that He is God and turn to Him. In Hebrews 11:6 it says, without faith it is impossible to please Him, for He who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who dilligently seek Him. He is a rewarder! But again, we must be seeking Him in order to find the reward. And Matthew 6:33, But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. So what do you do? You seek Him, you believe Him, even when it looks like all hell is breaking loose! You know why? 'cause it is and it will! But, by God's grace we will be victors through it all! All the way to glory! And it starts NOW, here in this life!

Be encouraged! We come into this Christian walk as babes in Christ, but we grow up and mature by feeding on the Word of God. So many people get saved and just hang out in the lobby eating spiritual junkfood. We nourish our bodies with food and it works the same way with our spirits. Romans 10:17 tells us how faith comes, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Unfortunately, many of the churches in these parts do not emphasize the importance of the Word and yet it is critical to our understanding of what faith is. This needs to be taught and preached! It is the only way the wrong thinking that has been perpetrated by the church can ever be eradicated. We need to preach what the Word of God says. Hebrews 11:1 says, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. In this verse there is a real emphasis on the first word, the word NOW, because NOW is the only time that God operates in; faith is now and now faith is...it is a now word! Everything we do, we do it NOW! We never do it later. We put things off till later, but then when do we do it? we always do it Now! Our faith is NOW.

I would encourage you not to put off a step of faith any longer. I would encourage you to Heed the call! Step out, believe Him, Trust Him! Know that He will make a way where it seems impossible. Just like salvation, it starts with confessing what we believe. As we say, Jesus is Lord, and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead and we are saved! Rom 10:9. It is the same for everything else! The salvation of our loved ones! Our prosperity! Our health and our well being. We confess it and believe it and even though we can't see it, by faith we can receive it today! As we do, it will come to pass. When will it happen? When did you get saved? When you said it! Right? Well then, when are you going to be rich? When are you gonna be healed? When are your loved ones gonna get saved? When we start to say it and believe it despite what we see or feel. We have a choice, Believe it and receive it, or doubt it and go without it! "For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

We must trust God, and as we do, He will lead us into all truth about every area of our life. It is my experience that it is usually the truth about ourselves that is the hardest to take. But my prayer is still that God will show me the truth about myself, no matter how it makes me feel. Because it is the truth (about myself) that makes me free! Show me Lord what it is that I need to change about myself! Am I harboring unforgiveness toward someone? If so, I may have a root of bitterness that will permeate my life. Lead me, by your Spirit, not by my head, not by my feelings, not by the way I think things should go! Your ways are higher and better than my ways! As I do this, I am letting God's Spirit lead me. The Spirit knows everything! When to buy, when to sell, when to cut bait! According to the Scriptures, we are to walk by faith and not by sight. And this means that we can't wait for the 'sweet by and by' we have to exercise our faith in God and in His promises in 'the crappy here and now' (if you'll excuse this expression).

Many of our songs teach us to look to the future, the promise of heaven when we die...it's all good, but real faith takes place in the here and now, through the tough, very real, challenges that life brings, when we can't see it and when we don't feel like it. We choose faith in God and in His Word over our circumstances, over our bank balance, over our symptoms and over our pain and loss.

God is love and He wants what's best for us because we're His beloved. When we choose His love, His Way, His Truth, over what we see and feel it will change everything! I think I've covered quite a bit here...If you didn't get anything from it now, that's ok. Read it later. It's good stuff and I've done preached myself happy once again! My faith is stirred up! Don't give up! Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might! Let me know if you need more : ) Tim

Worship…Even When Our Little Hut Burns

taken from the website called, allathisfeet.com

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. “God, how could you do this to me?!”, he cried. Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. “How did you know I was here?” asked the weary man of his rescuers. “We saw your smoke signal,” they replied...

God is the Master of Working at a deeper level than we can conceive of at the moment of our difficulty. He IS doing things greater and more wondrous than “our little hut” can fathom. Next time things aren’t what we want them to be, will we, will you respond with WORSHIP? Will we TRUST HIM to handle whatever the situation, and KNOW He is There in that pain and difficulty, Working something beyond our hopes—if we’ll be patient and WORSHIP? : ) It’s an important choice, that we each will make, one way or another. Do Good. For the Lamb.

Love,

12/12/2005

When Jesus died on Calvary we have heard that He took upon Himself the sins of the whole wide world...I get this truth mentally and have shared it with others many times over the years, BUT, today in a church service in Woodbury Vermont I finally got a revelation of what this truth really means!! It made me cry tears of joy all the way home!

It means that before I even accepted His sacrifice for me, He (JESUS) forgave me for ALL of my sins! His forgiveness is a free gift that He has made available to ALL! Because He forgave me through this amazing love, I too can forgive others who have wronged me! Even before they acknowledge their trespasses against me, I CAN and will forgive them! WHY? BEcause when I do, it sets a captive free! NOT only the person who has done you wrong, BUT even more importantly, when You forgive, it sets YOU free! When I forgive I am in turn released from the bondage that is UNFORGIVENESS!

Don't let the sin of unforgiveness hold YOU back from ALL that You are entitled to TODAY as a child of the most High God!

SET someone free TODAY! Receive the free gift of forgiveness of sins that Jesus bought and paid for when He died on the cross for the sins of the whole world!

The price of YOUR FREEDOM was paid once and for all at CALVARY! You can Believe it and receive it in Jesus' name Today!

Because:

If the Son has set you free, YOU ARE FREE INDEED!

I'm free!

Its good your free Tim, I feel that way too. As I was rolling up 103 and Rt7 this morning in the Sun I felt very Free. I rode 88 miles and it was pretty hard. I had to stop twice to warm up. In Brandon I got some food and talked to this old couple next to me in the diner. They were very interested in what I was up to. I guess I was something new for them to examine. They knew where I was coming from and where I was headed. Life long Vermonters who had seen it all.

You don't sound like someone who knows. It feels as though you are trying to convince someone with a torrent of words to cover up an underlying sense of doubt. Please don't take what I'm saying the wrong way. It's simply an observation.

And you've said a lot with very few words, Shane.

I won't delete you, just yet.

First, you are suggesting that one CAN know and that's very encouraging.

Second, you are suggesting that I could perhaps convince someone with my words, torrent or otherwise...And that would make me the Holy Spirit! He's the only convincer that I know of. If His Word doesn't convince you, nothing will.

Third, you sense doubt in my words, well halleluiah! I've convinced you of one thing then that I am NOT Jesus! Only He lived a perfect life and expressed Himself without a doubt.

This website is to encourage other believers in the Truth of God's Word as experienced through one life lived for God. I don't expect anyone who has not already trusted Christ to read these words and jump on board, or get excited about them even!

With this said, I hope you FEEL welcome to come again and if you find something to encourage you in what is written here, Praise GOD! If not, post your thoughts, but know this, I will delete you if you persist in being contrary!

AS I said before, until Joe says otherwise, I am still the FINAL AUTHORITY here at the Tim O'Rourke Forum, no doubt about that!

It's ok if you want to delete my post. I don't take it personally as I have no desire to be right. I prefer to be quietly in the background, so this will be my last post. Jesus said;"Know the truth and the truth will set you free". He was,of course, not referring to a conceptual truth, but the truth of who you are beyond name, form, and the contents of what you call "your life". Jesus spoke in parables because a parable has the ability to slowly erode who you think you are into revealing WHO YOU TRULY ARE. Another way of saying; "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free" is I am not what happens, but the space in which it happens. Thank you for allowing me to post this final message. You will ALWAYS be my friend.

NOW we're talking!

Don't be a silent visitor...you are more than welcome to post anything that you want here...just know that if I feel personally attacked, i may get offended...If I was more like Jesus I could take the attacks without having to defend myself...BUT, God does not need ME to defend Him.

It's the WORD of GOD that makes one free.

You have quoted a passage of scripture from the 8th chapter of John's gospel. I'd like to read the whole passage starting in verse 31 and quoting from the New King James version:

"Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, IF (big little word!) you abide in My word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

He is implying here that it is only HIS followers, those who put HIM/JESUS/HIS WORD above everything else that will know the truth. (Those who take the word out of context to try and convince themselves or others that there is any other way to God are deceived - as long as i don't perceive that this is what you are trying to do with the scriptures, i will let you post whatever you want). JESUS said, "I AM the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through Me." You can't get more direct or clear than this.

It is the simplicity of the gospel that so often trips us up as Christians.

by the way i do agree with you on one thing that you said; that this truth that He exposes by His word IS the truth about ourselves...God knows our hearts and speaks to us there...His sheep hear HIS voice...it is the truth about ourselves not the truth about others that will ultimately make us free! I missed this for most of my Christian walk because of my immaturity in the word! I thought I needed to apply the TRUTH to everyone else! God was trying to talk sense to me, but i stubbornly went about bashing everyone in my path with what God's word said! THUS sayeth the LORD...

Now i just do it on this forum and if people get offended by what i say here, they can change the channel. If I need correcting, GOD has my address.

verse 33:

"They (the Jewish believers) answered Him, 'We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free'?"

vs 34 "Jesus answered them, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."

This is the full context of this passage that is so often quoted by just about every religion under the sun.

Do you consider yourself a son of God? (see Romans chapter 8 and especially 8:14)

I've heard it said that Christianity is all about Revelation...but it is not just revelation, but it is PERSONAL REVELATION about ourselves, as you highlighted, WHO YOU TRULY ARE that makes us really free!

This is what I attempt to share here at this site...personal revelation from God to me! It is hard to convey personal revelation...why? because it is personal...How does He do it? By revealing the truth about me. It is then up to me what to do with it...

I heard a preacher say once, "Change is the evidence of God's power." It is not what we hear, but what we do with what we hear that leads to change.

Come, take what feeds you from my personal revelation and leave the rest. If you are open to God's Truth He will reveal Himself. If you find something to agree with here, please chime in...If you find something offensive..well, if it is in God's Word you'll have to take that up with Him...I didn't write the Bible, I only believe it and sometimes doubt it...and sometimes get offended by it...But as i heard a man say, 'faith will work in my heart with doubt in my head', I am learning to persevere in God's word. He chastens whom He loves!

Agree with what you can and search the scriptures for what you don't understand. Today, for instance, because of your post I was prompted to read all of Romans chapter 14 and it blessed me, especially the last verse!

Jesus IS the bread of Life...He IS the sustainer...Without Him I can do no-thing...His words are LIFE to those who find them and health to all of their flesh!

As I eat (feed on) the Word of God TODAY I am being transformed...I am daily being renewed...My body may be perishing, but my spirit can be stronger and stronger! God is showing me more and more truth about myself...your observation about doubt has helped me, brother Shane...I thank you for it...Could I be, as you say, trying to convince myself of the truth that makes me free?

YES! why? because the word says that this is how faith comes:

"So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" - Rom 10:17

I preach myself happy every time I get into the Word! When I stay out, my faith shrinks...Jesus said, Blessed is he who hungers and thirsts after righteousness, for he will be filled.

be blessed by the Word of Truth...It truly is the Truth that makes us free!

Tim, that's one thing that bothers me about organize religion. No room for argument. It's 'written' so the word is the way. I dunno, everything is up for debate as far as I'm concern. Jesus was a human being just like the rest of us, he felt happiness, pain, and sadness. We are all sons, and daughters of God. Like Shane says, Know the truth and the truth will set you free. Be true to yourself. If that means being a Christian Dictator than delete away.

I would be foolish to delete your posts Joe. why? because you are the webmaster!

in the same vein, it is foolishness to ignore what THE MASTER of all creation has said. I am only writing and agreeing with The Word that was spoken. The more you know about God the more you realize how much you don't know.

Yes, Jesus was a man, just like us, BUT the difference was He was sent on a mission from God. He wasn't sent to 'be free', He was sent to SET US free!

This is what this site is! It is an acknowledgement of The One who was sent by God to set the captives free! I have attached my name to it, because I believe in Him and the freedom that believing in Him represents. If this makes me a dictator, so be it.

And you know all this how? Tim you put a lot a faith in document that has an undocumented origin. You have no idea who wrote it and how many translations its been through. It was not written in English and half the original document was tossed by the church because it was not to their liking. The Church is pretty slow to accept things. Just the other day a 4.2 million year old set of bones was uncovered. IT walked upright and appears to have been part of our past. How can you ignore the fact that the Bible doesn't deal with things like this? 4.2 million years old, they can tell by looking at the place they dug it up and the tooth enamel. Its hard science not text on a page. You can hold it in your hand. Wake up and smell the facts Tim.

Facts vs Truth:

I was going through my posts today and stumbled upon this one of Bob's from one year ago almost to the day.

Once again my boyhood friend has inspired me with his words to write about my faith!

I am thankful to him and all those who participate here.

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage visitors to this forum to read the posts and when something doesn't sound right or challenges you to comment or pose your own viewpoints on the matter, to please do so. My whole purpose for having this site is to apply the Word of God to every aspect of life and because I am only 'being perfected' by the application of God's Word and have not yet attained perfection, there are things written here that should always be examined in the light of scripture.

Bob's comment on the "facts" of life has reminded me of a song that I wrote a few years back comparing facts to God's Truth. It goes like this:

Fact is, you may FEEL lonely...fact is, you may FEEL poor...fact is, you may FEEL all hope is gone, but the fact is there is one thing for sure...

Facts change...but God's love always stays the same...Facts change, yesterday, tomorrow and today, Facts change, but God's Word stays the same...

Fact is, you may have lost a friend...Fact is you may still FEEL pain...FAct is you may think all is lost...Fact is you may think nothing stays the same...

well, Facts change...but God's love always stays the same...Facts change yesterday, tomorrow and today, FActs change but God's word doesn't change...

well, the Truth is Jesus died for me and you...the fact is you may or may not believe this Truth...fact is it doesn't matter either way...'cause facts are what we SEE and FEEL, the Truth is what we SAY....what are you saying?

I am Rich, I am Strong, I am healed and I belong to the One who is greater in me...I am rich, I am strong, I am healed and I belong to the One who is greater in me...'cause

FActs are only what we FEEL and SEE, Jesus said, put your Faith in ME! not in what you SEE...

I am Rich and I am healed. I am strong and I won't yield..to the facts that are all around me...I am rich, I am healed...I am strong and I won't yield...to the FActs that are all around me...the Facts that may try to drown me...'cause,

Fact's change...But God's Word always stays the Same!

that's the song...and it basically is saying this:

That all FACTS are subject to CHANGE by the TRUTH...the WORD of GOD is Truth!
