Since the theme of this post is freedom - have you ever seen those bumper stickers that say; "Freedom isn't free"? What a hoot! Freedom is free - that's why they call it freedom!

It is actually the central theme of the Gospel or Good News that someone, JESUS, has paid for your ultimate freedom! In this way freedom IS a free gift, but we must accept it in order to enter into a right relationship with the Father God. Acceptance of the sacrifice that One Man made for all men on the cross of Calvary. Christ's sacrifice is the gift of reconciliation between God and sinners everywhere and at every age. But, as the bumper stickers say this freedom was not free! The price for our freedom was paid once and for all by Jesus through His death on the cross. He did away with the power of sin to harm all those who come into right relationship by accepting His sacrifice for it. We enter into this relationship of forgiveness of sins through an acknowledgement of our own poverty and complete helplessness and hopelessness to ever be able to pay the price for freedom on our own, or through our own pursuits. This is why our relationship to Jesus is the entry point to the only real freedom there is; the freedom from sin! For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! Come ye sinner and drink from the cup of salvation. When you do, you will not only receive forgiveness from every sin you have ever committed but even more amazingly, you will receive the power to remain free from sin!
