As salaamu Alaikoum,

Praise be to Allah.

First of all, the hadith you mention does NOT MEAN that woman have to walk on the side of the road and men in the middle:

Narrated AbuUsayd al-Ansari
AbuUsayd heard the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) say when he was coming out of the mosque, and men and women were mingled in the road: Draw back, for you must not walk in the middle of the road; keep to the sides of the road. Then women were keeping so close to the wall that their garments were rubbing against it. [Dawud 2516]

This Hadith is not telling women to walk to the side and men to the middle. It is a hadith whereas the Prophet(saw) told both men and women to get out of the street and to walk on the side so as to allow traffic to pass by.

In regards to a woman taking off her clothes, she should not remove her clothes in the public. This includes Health clubs and the like. It does not apply to home or when staying with your relatives or making hajj.

AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST
