Peter, does the "horizontal" sensation come from how low
the shaft is ("feels?") to the ground at "pre-impact?" I am assuming this starts to occur at the position with the club perfectly parallel to the ground with the butt end pointing down the target line. This is the point where I would think your "horizontal" feeling would take over, and the clubhead moves toward the ball... (I am picturing the Ken Ellsworth frame-by-frame pictures of the swing in LOBG.)
