Gosh, it's been hard to get this thread started. Maybe I can come up with some outrageous comments to urge some sort of a reaction? ;)

This is all "still" true.

Let me start with an anecdotal comment.

When I was starting the playtesting process for Alpha-0, I was seriously concerned that moving all of the Russians along the A/B/C rows would prove to be a "killer" tactic. So I tried playing this with a bunch of folks, and SURPRISE ... they started playing the tactic back at me!

I contend that this tactic is ONLY the best tactic if the Russian player believes that they can "out-dice" the Germans in a firefight that usually occurs between the Russians behind the stone wall in i1 and i2, and the Germans usually in the woods at m1 and m2. And since I seem to never be able to count on the dice ... ;)

So, two items:

What is the best German response to such a firefight situation?

And, how can the Russians use some of their inherent advantages to improve their chances over this situation?

Surely a few of you have played the situation ... lets hear some comments!
