Hello everyone I am 17 years old and I just know I'm pregnant. I found your site while looking for a place to vent and get support for an unplanned pregnancy. My mom knows I'm pregnant and shes okay with it and shes very supportive my problem is the father is only 16 and since his parents found out we were sexualy active they completed banned him from having any contact with me and now that I'm pregnant I'm terrified of having to deal with his parents because when they found out about me and their son they were already threatning to take me to court and take away my baby and then have my mom locked up for 'allowing' me to have sex with their 16 year old son and such. His parents make three times the amount that my mom makes so I'm very afraid they might try to take my baby just out of spite.

I know an abortion is not for me regardless of my finantial means I love this baby and I am willing to do anything and everything I can to provide for him or her. But I'm very nervous about carrying to term without my medicine.

I'm bipolar and I have severe fibromyalgia and I'm not sure how safe it would be for me to continue on my anti depressents and pain medicine while pregnant because the last thing I want to do is harm my baby with my medicine but I really cannot function without my antidepressents and I'm afraid even if I wean myself to a lower dose that would still be bad for the baby.

I take 20 mg of Lexapro and 450 mg of prescription aleve those are the main meds I can't function with out so if anyone could give me suggestions on how to best care for myself and the baby during this pregnancy I would greatly appriciate it.

I live in San Antonio Texas but I'm not sure if or where crisis pregnancy centers are here.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story I appriciate it

Love,
Brey

Hello and WELCOME!!! We're SO glad you found us! Unplanned pregnancies can often be pretty scary , especially dealing with parents. As far as your boyfriend's parent's go, you both are still minors, so they can't really charge you with anything. Does your boyfriend know yet or not? If not, you probably need to consider telling him unless you think it could potentially harm you or make things more complicated right now.
As far as your anti-depressent meds, I don't think it's a good idea to keep taking them because they may potentially harm your baby, but I suggest you speak to your dr. ASAP about this(even over the phone), so you know for sure.
Here is a list of crisis pregnancy centers in San Antonio:

I have medicaid since I'm disabled and I have already been approved to continue with my medicaid benefits after I turn 18 next months so health insurance for me and the baby is no issue its providing clothing and diapers and baby food and such.

I'm pretty sure I'm about two and a half months pregnant and I have an appointment with my ob-gyn on the 11th so i'll find out more about my little one then. I called and talked to my phychiatrist and she suggested that I wean myself to 10 mg of lexapro and hopefully by the middle of my second trimester I'll be on only 5 mg of lexapro witch is much safer for the baby as well as me because i'm prone to having post pardom depression because I'm bipolar and it runs in my family.

I have stopped taking the aleve and I've been trying homopathic approaches to my aches and pains with heating pads and hydrotherepy as well as taking vitamins and eating healthier and thats helping alot.

My ex boyfriend will have nothing to do with me and refuses to speak to me even though we go to the same school. He knows I'm pregnant though but I doubt hes told his parents and out of respect I don't want to tell them the news until after christmas.

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to read my post and respond I appriciate it so much.

I'll update more after I got to my obgyn appointment!

Brey,

There are two things you might want to look into as far as your emotional problems are concerned. It is my understand that Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil) and phosphatidyl choline can help, and both are safe. The other thing is if you have been eating foods with monosodium glutimate in them, you should discontinue doing so. A possible deficiency in gamma linolenic acid, which normally the adrenal glands make, could be remedied by taking evening primrose oil or borage oil. MSG can sometimes do grave damage to the adrenal glands. Learn how to avoid all excitotoxins. Another such is aspartame (nutrasweet). I hope all of this helps!

Please know that I don't want to scare you, but I thought this info contained some very valuable information that you need ot know. Whatever you decide, do your research! Keep us posted!

Hello and Welcome!

Are you sure you are pregnant, have you taken a test? If not, then that is the first step you need to take.

Next, if you are pregnant, then you need to make your first dr's appt. There are a lot of places that will help you for free. Tracey has given you some options and they are the experts and have all the resources you will need.

If indeed you are pregnant, seeing a dr asap to ask about the medications is very important. It will matter to know how far along you are as well.

You can do this! No one will tell you it is easy, but it will be the best thing you will do in your life, I believe! All of us on this board have been in your shoes at one time or another, including myself. I look at my daughter each day (she will be 3 years old this month) and I can not believe that I created her and that she is so beautiful!

We want to help you along in any way we can. Let us know what you need.

I would not worry about the baby's fathers parents. It is next to impossible to take a baby away from its mother.

Hope to hear from you soon on your test and how far along you are!

Love,

Lisa

I have read about Paxil and the increased risk of heart defects. The risk in the normal population is 1% of pregnancies. The risk in the group taking Paxil is 2%. That is a 100% increase in risk, but the risk is still not huge. It would be a good thing to discuss with the doctor who can help with a risk/benefit assessment. As for the Aleve, I think the biggest risk is in the later part of pregnancy if I recall correctly. IT's pretty hard on the stomach, though, so I would definitely not take it on an empty stomach. The risk/benefit is also something your doctor can discuss with you as well as possible alternative treatments. It's not unusual to do everything right and have problems or to do everything wrong in pregnancy and have a healthy outcome. If only we had guarantees.

I would check out the Crisis Pregnancy Centers to see if you can get any referrals for legal help should it be needed. I don't think their suit would have much merit as long as you cannot be proven unfit, which is difficult to do. If the CPC cannot help you, let met know and I'll do more research for you.

I would take the threat seriously to be on the safe side, but I hope you take a little encouragement in knowing that threats are common, but actions are not nearly so common. Just document everything to be safe, but chances are good you won't have to deal with it down the road.

Feel free to e-mail me anytime. I will help in whatever way I am able.
