I agree that the worst kind of fanfic is one where Mulder or Scully dies. I usually don't even read those stories which summaries indicate that.

You might be surprised to hear that every now and then I like a little MSR in my fanfics. I don't like marriage stories, and I don't like Mulder and Scully With Kids stories. Those stories are way too conventional for me, and usually they don't have enough suspense for me.

I also like the stories with Krycek (surprise surprise). I like the ones that try to capture the tension between Krycek and Mulder, or that explain Krycek's background with any sort of believability.

Really any story that develops characters is high on my list. I don't really enjoy those that are strictly X-Files, because I can watch that on television and better than what people can write (at least usually!)
