Subject: - Silence before Dawn -

It was a good four candlemarks before dawn when Hollis rose from her bed and left the lower caverns of the Weyr.
The sun was invisible beyond the horizon, yet there was still enough light for the nineteen turn old toslip across the Weyrbowl towards the lake.
It was an every day activity, these early morning visits to the Weyrlake, Hollis would emerge from the lower caverns and spend just under 4 candlemarks in the early morning fresh air before going below grounds again around dawn, just as the Weyr was starting to awaken to the new day.
Hollis' intentions had never been to remain unknown of by the Weyr, yet none were up as early as she in the morning, save the Headwoman who watched the dark haired girl occasionally with a saddened expression before continuing with her morning duties, and as such Hollis' presence in the eyr was pretty much unknown, it had been for as long as she had been in the Weyr and prefering her solitude she'd never seeked to make her own presence known.
Oh yes, the kitchen staff knew of her, a dark haired young woman who went on with her business without fuss or complaint yet retained permission to remain only in the kitchens during the day, yet she kept herself to herself and as such few bothered to approach her in friendship, and those few that did soon gave up their attempt when she merely looked at them without expression before turning back to her work.

So it was this morning, like any other morning Hollis settled herself upon one of the many rocks at the edge of the WeyrLake, waiting as her gold firelizard took the chance to swim and bath 'above ground'.
Yet this morning, instead of watching the gold firelizard bathe and then oiling her, Hollis watched the ripples of the water in the lake, staring past them and slipping into a thoughtful state.

For once the Dawn found her still sitting there, knees lifted up to her chin, silently on a rock at the waters edge.
Sunitie, the gold firelizard, had emerged from the water, yet having seen her owners complaitant state had merely climbed to her shoulder and gone to sleep, her tail wrapped protectively around the girls neck.
Yet just as the golds movements hadn't drawn Hollis from her thoughtfulness neither did the sound of the dragons awakening. So it was that she was still seated by the lake as the Weyr awoke, for the first time since she had arrived she would be seen by those other then the kitchen Staff.
