In reply to: Professor 's message, "How about..." on "Tue, May 24 2011, 9:09:47 GMT"

Now there is a player I would love to see back at Moseley depending upon his commitment to England Sevens.

If we can afford them I'd happily take both players back

I agree, both Jack and Dan would be excellent signings.

Agree wholeheartedly, even if Norton did continue playing England sevens, although I do not understand why Bristol want rid of the, particularly Norton. Mind you Adams still plays the drama queen with his "I've been obstructed ref". I noticed that he is obstructed at least once in every game. None-the-less he is still a good attacking centre - even if his defence is suspect.

There was talk of Dan joining London Welsh, but I'd have him back any day. One problem i see with Dan is his England Sevens commitments.

Not so sure about Jack. I assume his plan was to join Bristol, get promoted and to be playing in the premiership... but as we all know that didn't happen. Having been released by Bristol, not sure he would be on the same upward trajectory as when he was DRed to us by Gloucester. Having said that I thought he was a great player for us.

Anthony Elliott also made a good impression with Bees a couple of seasons ago, which is why Bristol signed him.

Norton is a good player but why would any Championship team want someone who can only play less than half the games taking up valuable squad money?
I am sorry but both Adams and Elliott are on a career down and Bristol don't release people they think will enhance their squad.Adams is poor in defence and we all know what Mose play like when the midfield is open to opposition attacks! We would be better off looking elsewhere. I am sure Maggs with his contacts will soon have centre covered.

A quick look at the signings and departures thread on Rolling-Maul.com shows that Bristol's new head coach has revealed that he is operating on a reduced budget from last year. This is why Bris have released a number of players who I'm sure will have no problem getting contracts from other Championship clubs - Norton, Adams and Elliot included.
FWIW I think Adams would be a good signing for us - who better than Kevin Maggs to add the finishing touches to his game? and he'd certainly fit with Maggs' desire to play expansive rugby

I would prefer to have Norton back if we could only have one of them, but I wouldn't mind seeing either of them back with us next season

I haven't heard about Carter yet or De La Harpe. Is Moseley matters out this week? to confirm some more signings. If not should we be worried yet?

Someone tell me not to be impatient & all will be well.......please

In addition to that which is already known I, too, am looking forward to finding out whom we are keeping, those who are leaving and who will be the new arrivals. However, I will try very hard NOT to let my heart overule my head next season in my expectations about the quality and anticipated performances levels untill the season is well under way.

Normaly one would says "Once bitten, twice shy". Sadly, with regard to Moseley in the last two seasons that is somewhat questionable. Perhaps one should read "Twice bitten, thrice shy" and remain cautious about our projected end of season position.

A decent fixture list might help in this regard. Our season was not helped by playing the vast majority of our regular season home games before December last time, so by the time Bevon was ready, Olly was back and the rest of the squad had settled in we had already found ourselves towards the bottom of the league. The opening gamnes last season against Esher had all the portents of what was to come in those few months. (Although having said that against the pirates we did okay, and I think against Wuss at home we played pretty well) I guess sometimes reality and perception can be different. Although a league table rarely lies. I agree thrice shy!
