Subject: How many times do you think a contestant should compete in a pageant, before they realize they should just give up, and it is not in their books to win.

Until they age out, or go broke trying :) Seriously not all girls are doing it for the 'win'. Some girls know in thier hearts that they arent in the league of the winners but they still compete...comradarie, experience, entertainment, chance to travel, the opportunity to dress up, a reason to wear a tiara. They all have different reasons. Some are in it for the win, and most of the time they do have a chance or they are being 'lead' into believing they have a chance. Most of the girls who dont have a chance really do know it deep down inside (unless they are completely delusional) but regardless, if they arent hurting anyone, and they are having fun copeting, who are we to say they shouldnt compete? Besides it makes the stand outs stand out more if there are some average girls, doesnt it? (NT)Christi21:23:06 11/30/08 Sun
Krystle Stewart, the current Miss USA tried like a 100 times before she won. (I think at least 5). (NT)Brent21:43:02 11/30/08 Sun
My thoughts on this question are a bit torn, b/c although I agree that a girl who is a true contender, but who may need some polish, training, or time to mature, should try again if she doesn't win the first time... There are girls who really should NOT return. I think as a potential contestant, you must be honest w/ yourself, and if you don't have some of the basic requirements of a winner (like the obvious - a beautiful face), I think they are wasting their time and money chasing an unattainable dream. And as for the point by the above poster saying that "not all girls are doing it for the 'win'"... of course they are. Everyone wants to win! (NT)--09:09:18 12/01/08 Mon

yes some may do it for the experience. but those who compete in the same pageant more than twice is in it to win. they think if they have a more expensive gown or be a bit thinner, or more toned they will have a better chance. first couple times is an experience, after that it is an interest to win. i understand if you were a finalist before, and you know where you need to improve in. but i think after three times its just sad and pathetic. and i dont mean just nationally, but also locally. some people will compete in local pageants 3,4,5, or even 10 times. is it worth doing?
