Unfortunately, I am not an experienced spoiler, but this touched on something I had mentioned and had heard rumblings about in the past. What if Spike is the Big Scoobey death... only in the manner of BtVS where death is sort of metaphorical? I had written something about where all of this happens, as the spoilers say, but it is not Anya who reverses it, saving someone in the process, but Spike who resets it by sacrificing himself for one or all of the Scoobies. It plays into the redemption arc, and also fits with character development in the growing up theme. If Spike "dies" then Buffy is forced to cope with her feelings for him. To mourn. If they leave off the season there, there are myriad possibilites re. how they can resume. Spike comes back de chipped or human or with a soul (they would need to be careful of the last 2). Better yet, he could come back not even knowing Buffy and Buffy would have to prove her love to him for once. Also lays the groundwork for a lot of mythological parallels (ie story of Persphone). Anyway, I do not know, but I like the idea for a story arc..
