The best...ok..the ONLY diet I was ever on before..and it worked really well for me and Bruce was the food combining diet. I went on this after I had Mason (11 1/2 lbs that little bugger was) I had gained over 90 lbs so even though he was 11 1/2 there was lots of extra left over. The food combining was made popular by a husband and wife team whose last name is Diamond...I think it's Harvey and Marilyn. I had the book..Fit for Life..but it's gone now. Basically they say that you should eat ONLY fruit for breakfast for digestive reasons. That you should avoid meat, dairy-which they lovingly refer to as cow pus, white flour and white sugar. Maple syrup or honey is ok. Never eat starch with protien....wait 2 hours after eating protien to have a starch and vise-versa. Only pure foods...even if you want Jello you have to use unflavoured knox gelatin and mix it with pure juice...and juice should be fresh not pasteurized. We ate fruit every morning for breakfast. We had tofu (yes my kids ate tofu) stir fries for lunch..just tofu and tamari sause (YUM..you soak the tofu in it and it tastes like the tamari sause) with whatever vegetables we wanted and cashews over BROWN (never white) rice. For dinners we had homemade soups...or if we had pasta it was made from spelt and we used tomatoe sauses and had green salad and vegetables...the book had some really cool recipes that we tried too...some we really liked. After about a month we weren't so strict. We stuck with the fruit in the morning and we stayed vegetarian but we did mix starches and protiens...kind of hard not to when you're a vegetarian. I must admit that I looked and felt my best when I was a vegetarian. I'm not much of a meat person although I don't mind the odd juicy steak, which I would have when I felt like it. I think I'm going to go back to trying that one. What I drank all day was either distilled water or hot water mixed with 2 tablespoons of pure lemon juice with 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and as much cayenne pepper as I could stand...it cleans out your system like you wouldn't believe. You could actually live on this drink as it supplies all of the daily requirements for living between the maple syrup and the lemon. Cayenns is a blood purifier...it kind of tastes like a peppery neo citran..not too bad..I'll let you know how it goes. A fried of mine tried weight watchers but it didn't really work for her...another one right now is trying some herbal regime that is cosing her a fortune. I think I'll go back to trying this...it's cheap. The most expensive part is the pure maple syrup (it has to be PURE maple syrup...not pancake syrup). I won't be doing too much different than I am now expect I won't be eating meat, I'll be adding the fruit and the water/lemon/cayenne drink-really does get you going, lol, and ok..maybe I should exercise a little...damn it..why don't they have special exercise places for people that don't like like they've just come from barbie land? I do not need to see any six foot blonde haired perfect skinned gym goddesses wearing spandex with absolutely not one ounce of fat right now...I would be forced to KILL them.
