I actually think the more important point here is that we shouldn't make decisions of principle - because if everything I've read is true, we don't have that luxury. I don't think we can afford to pick sides based on what we believe in or what our ideals are. Honestly, we might just have to wait and see which side is going to let us live the way we want to, propaganda and idealism aside.

As for whether we're under attack by the Technocracy - I think there are good odds that the whole "attack" at the bar was staged by Jimmy, Jesse and Joe for our benefit to make us feel exactly as I do. Even though the bar's been closed since then, I think there's a chance that our good opinion (and fear of the Technocracy) matters more to them than a few days' revenue.

On the other hand, they basically threatened to kill Chris. Kill him. Like - dead. That really upsets me, and that alone makes me think that we're in danger from these people who claim to be our allies. There's no question in my mind that these people are willing to kill over these things, but I think we shouldn't forget that it's BOTH sides who are going to be trying to kill us if we make the "wrong" choice.

I'm with you on the scientific method front - we have to figure out what the rules and laws of this magic stuff are. On the other hand, I also agree that what we know about BOTH sides are just propaganda - that's why we have to learn as much as we can without letting on that we're comparing notes, so we can catch them out in how they're trying to sell us on each side.

Have you guys considered that we might want to hear the Technocracy side of things? I don't know how/whether one would get in touch with them safely, but I thought I'd toss that idea out there.

Um - I think it might be more dangerous not to know what we can do. Didn't Joe say something about it just building up and coming out at random times if we don't channel it and use it? If it's some sort of vital force, some kind of biological or psychological need, it's going to build up over time and burst whatever dams we try to place on it, especially since we don't even know what we're doing when it comes to control.

We at least need to learn enough to control it.
