Subject: What do you do about

okay, does everyone pack lunch every single day?

Maybe it's just cuz I live in this bizarre place called New York City, but I've always just gotten my lunch at work. I've started packing my breakfast because it's usually just cereal or buying fruit and eating that for breakfast, but packing lunch is getting old and takes a lot of cooking time - and there are so many amazing things to eat in this city that *sound* like they might be fine - but who knows??? If you get lunch from somewhere, how do you guys deal with knowing how many calories and fat grams you're taking in?

We have these great you-pick-it we-toss-it salad places, but I can't tell how much dressing I'm getting in the salad. I always ask for just ONE ladle (a small ladle, not a soup ladle!), but I don't know how much dressing fits in that little ladle. ANd yeah, I usually get fat-free honey mustard or whatever, but every once in a while I like to splurge and get balsamic vinaigrette or *gasp* ranch and eat that as my entire fat intake for the day.

But the question remains - how much is THAT?

btw anyone who hasn't tried this, they have so many yummy fresh things - grilled chicken, beans, chickpeas, flank steak, grilled portobello mushrooms, grilled shrimp, you name it! And no, of course I don't get all of those together :P

Of course, ya gotta stay away from the cheddar cheese, the bacon bits, the nuts, the feta, the avocado - but the rest of the ingredients are very yummy!

Now how do I figure out exactly how much grilled chicken they're tossing in to that lil' salad bowl??

clara :o)
