March 2, 2007

Hon. Gov. Loreto Leo S. Ocampos
Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental

Sir,

First and foremost, allow me to convey my warmest congratulations to you for being chosen as one of the most outstanding Governors of the Philippines for 2006.
I am a freshman of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Manila. One of our requirements in our Philippine Literature subject is the submittal of a provincial hymn. I desire to exhibit the musical composition of Misamis Occidental and its respective cities’ hymns to our class and share with them the inspiring song.
In this regard, may I respectfully request that I may be furnished with a copy of the composition, presented in its original musical arrangement indicating notes or chords and composers of each song, if possible.
I shall be glad to pick-up my request composition on or before March 5, 2007.

Thank you very much.

Very truly yours,

Rudgene Carlo A. Dualan
Student

I am an American citizen, born and raised in the Philippines of a naturalized American citizen father, and presently residing in California, USA. My father's name is Rosalio T. Galay; he died about 30 years ago. My father was originally from Jimenez, Misamis Occidental. He left his province during his early twenties to study in Manila. He never returned to Misamis Occidental. Never knew much about his childhood, his past or my relatives there in Misamis Occidental as he seldom talked about it. Just hoping someone out there in Misamis Occidental could read this message and help or direct me to a relative still residing there. Or, direct me to a place or agency there that could help me trace some of my relatives. My father talked about all his brothers and sisters, and their children still living there.

Thank you very much. Merry X'Mas and a Happy New Year to all.

I am Mr. Mario L. Cuezon. I am a graduate student of the University of the Philippines at Diliman, Quezon City. I come from Jimenez, Misamis Occidental.
Yes, there are Galays in our hometown and I could say there are plenty of them there. I heard they even had a reunion of the Galay Clan. One of our neighbors in barangay Nacional before was a Galay. But I think there are many Galay families in barangay Naga and in hinterland barangays. I even had schoolmates in high school carrying that surname, including one with an incredible beautiful voice.
I will try to ask about the name.
Respond.

Mario,

Thank you for responding to my e-mail. I sent you an e-mail response earlier under your yahoo.com address, I do not know if you received it.

I am sure I have relatives in Jimenez, Misamis Occ. I just do not know if they are residing in Barangay Naga. Is there a Barangay Malibagsak? I seem to remember my mother mentioning a town in Jimenez by that name.

You know I was born in Manila but raised in Pagasa, QC. That place is not very far from Diliman, QC where you are currently completing your graduate work. In fact, as a young adult in Pagasa, I used to play basketball at tournaments around the Diliman area. I hope you are enjoying the area. When are you going to complete your studies. Are you returning to Jimenez afterwards?

Regards to you and your family.

Always,
Ross

Yes, "Galay" is one of the dominant family name in Jimenez, and yes the barangay you were asking is "MALIBACSAN". Will you be interested to contact a relative? Try his e-mail lemael_rs02@yahoo.com , He is Lemael Galay Montero, son of the late Ledivina Galay Montero, brgy Naga, Jimenez. He is presently with the US Army stationed in Alaska and his twin Lemuel, a nurse, is stationed in New Jersey. Both of them are my cousin-in-law. Oops, I do come from Jimenez, barangay Taraka. Good-luck, Neil

There is no Barangay Malibagsak in Jimenez, it's Barangay Malibacsan. I'm Michael Tagbo from Brgy. Palilan, Jimenez, MIsamis Occidental and I also belong to the Galay clan. Most of the residents in our barangay has Galay blood. Hope to see you here! God bless!

Hello Ross,

You have indeed many relatives in Jimenez, one of the biggest family of the oldest town of Misamis Ocidental. Many are working in the local government office of the municipality and among the most popular is Mr. Jaime C. Galay, the most ever dependable Municipal Meat Inspector, and a good neighbor of mine. The late, Mr. Juanito A. Galay, was my community organizing mentor before I join the LGU in Jimenez and the Phiippines-Australia Local Sustainability (PALS) Program.
Most Galay families are residents of Brgy. Naga and becomes my neighbors and friends and they are dispersed in most barangays and nearby municipalities through marriages and migration.
Wishing you some great news from your roots in Jimenez.
Regards,
Jaime B. Baldomero

Hello Zeny,

Well, your friend is one of the highly respected leaders and a political icon in our community and the municipality of Jimenez. Having a security agency office next to our house, she's very popular among us. You may try to contact her at her residence phone numbers 088-2723906 & 088-2723915, respectively.

Please, would you bother to tell MOWD that one of our beloved councilor, particularly Coun. Anthony Centino, has illegal water connection for several years now. That's a big loss to our water industry.
Another, please would you mind to check their residence, for inside, Brgy. Kagawad of Lower Langcangan Jeselie Centino Borbon operates a bakery without the permits necessary.
This is not a campaign blackmail.Just tell the appropriate agencies to investigate on the matter.
Thank you & MABUHAY!!!

Dear Gov. Leo Ocampos,

I am from Oroquieta City working in Iligan City due to the lack of job opportunities in our province. I wish that more job opportunities would be offered in the province so that Misamisnons need not go to other places to search for jobs. I want to believe that this is an attainable objective. The exodus of Misamisnons to other places should serve as a wake up call otherwise our province would become a breeding ground only.

More power and may God bless Misamis Occidental!

Dear Gov. Ocampos,

Hello, nice portal site for the misamis occidental people.
I am writing you to commend one of your constituents in Aloran. His name is Glenn Valentino Alas. He was my student in Computer Science from Indiana AeroSpace University, LapuLapu City. He was a second courser there and to what I knew before I left Indiana, he also left the said school and went to your province to work as a public servant. Some of his classmates were really impressed with his acts of charity. He sent many students to college.
I just don't know if he is really in Aloran working or not since Glenn works in mysterious and discrete matters. If he is really serving as a govt servant there in your place, please convey my message to him that my family and his classmates and friends do really miss him. God Bless your province. More kind hearted people sana like Glenn. Thanks..

Dear Gov. Ocampos,

My wife and I would like to express our sincerest
thanks to you, your wife and all your Capitol
employees who was responsible in giving us a very
wonderful and educational tour of your very impressive
province.

What we enjoyed so much was experiencing the fruits of
all the work that was put in the realization the
different projects like the Misamis Occidental
Aquamarine Park, Misamis Occidental Enterprise
Development & Research Center and the Malindang
Research Park.

These projects should serve as an example to different
provinces in our nation that things can be realized if
each one of us will show some iota of cooperation.

We salute the people of Misamis Occidental especially
to their very unassuming Governor Ocampos for a job
well done.

More power to all of you

Aida and Spanky Tablante
Cebu City
