Subject: Space Shuttle Colombia breaks up on re-entry; all hands presumed lost

As reported by CNN

I had just finished watching my fun, silly, weekly episode of MST3K (Which I realize started nearly the minute they lost contact with Columbia), when I turned on the news to see debris trails across the sky.

I'm so shocked by this that my fingers feel numb. I was only 10 years old when I saw the Challenger blow up on live TV. Being grade schol aged, I knew a lot about the Teacher in space program and was all set to watch history being made. Well, I guess I got that wish...

Of course they show all that footage of the crew all happy and chipper in space. The Israeli crew member even brought a Torah up in space with him to commemorate the trip.

I heard that they are planning on grounding the rest of the shuttle fleet; the folks on the space station are ging to be picked up and dropped off by the Russians.
