As someone who actually farms and has Boerboels, I'd like to add that in terms of getting the job done, mental structure is far more important than physical structure.

Conformation showing pretends that function is all about physical form. This is frankly rubbish - look at any animal whose purpose is performance and you'll see winners with often far from 'perfect' structure. (What you never see is exaggeration.)

In working dogs, function is mostly about intelligence, biddability, drive and courage. I've never met a shepherd who brags about his dogs' physical structure or looks, with good reason.
