Subject: Re: Great topic! Throughout the history in the 80's, and 90's for sure, larger towns and counties had many appearances for their titleholders and I think its because of who sponsored them. There were several titleholders that represented the Baltimore area including Miss Baltimore's Best and Miss Baltimore which was run for a very long time by the great Miss Willa Bland. There was a Miss Annapolis, Miss Ocean City, Miss College Park, Miss Greenbelt, Miss Prince George's County. Sertoma, Lions Club, Legions, were sponsors.

It’s almost embarrassing for someone who inspire to have an impressive career in a large city to be a “pageant queen”. Guys these days are looking for the successful partners with great education and impressive jobs and not for the trophy wives. That is if you are talking about east coast major metropolitan areas. It’s just my experience that people who are aiming high (in professional world) think that pageants are ridiculously outdated and sexist. Look at how many news anchors are lawyers these days! It used to be beauty queens, now values are different.
