Chapter 15: Flirtations
After an hour at the bar, and a few drinks later, the girls had let their guard down and reserves go, with only Star being "non-tipsy", as Terina had put it.
Nique: "So what's the deal with you and Talib huh?" obviously showing a little sign of the alcohol's side effects.
Terina, who was a bit light-headed as well, looked at her blankly. Star's eyes widened and she looked back and forth between the two girls. She held her breath and waited for Terina to answer.
Terina: "Talib? Hah! What about us?" Star was relieved to see that Terina wasn't that drunk to not be able to have a conversation with. Terina smiled at Star, knowing very well that her friend had been worried for a second there.
Nique: "C'mon... spill it Terina..." not accepting Terina's response.
Terina laughed: "There's nothing to spill!"she eyed a cute guy at the bar.
Terina: "And I'm going to go say hi to that hot guy..." Terina had left the table she was at and had avoided an unnecessary confrontation about her and Talib. She looked back at her two friends and realized they were watching her, waiting for her to talk to him. Terina sighed at the mess she got herself into as she straightened out her hair and threw a flirty glance to the blue-eyed brunette. (I once went out with white hot fine guy)
He noticed her and smiled, subtly eyeing her up and down. Terina smiled back and went up beside him to order a drink. She couldn't believe she was doing all this to get Nique's suspicions away from her and Talib. When the bartender got Terina's drink, the guy beside her told the girl behind the counter that he's got it covered.
Terina leaned closer to him so he could hear her over the loud music,
Terina: "Thanks! But usually I know the guy's name before he buys me a drink!"
The guy smiled, and his smile radiated his sexiness: "I'm Stevie... and you are..."
Terina supplied: "Terina"
Stevie: "It's a pleasure to meet you, Terina"
Terina: "The pleasure's all mine," looking over his shoulder at Nique and Star. Nique had a look of confusion on her face.
Terina thought: ‘Perfect, that should throw her off the track.'
Terina: "Stevie, do you want to dance?"
Stevie: "Sure!" Terina motioned for him to follow her and they went back to her table. She put down her drink, introduced her friends and they headed onto the dance floor.
Star watched as Terina and this new guy flirted. She had caught onto Terina's plan, and she had to admit, Terina was a pretty convincing actress. She's got both Nique and Stevie fooled. She turned to Nique, who had apparently been speaking to her.
Nique: "I guess I was wrong about her and Talib then..."
Star was surprised at how logical Nique sounded. Maybe her drinks were wearing off. She looked at her watch and realized what time it was. She had to work the next day and she knew that Nique and Terina did as well.
Star: "I think it's time to go, I'm going to go get Terina." She called Terina back and they headed home, but not before Terina exchanged phone numbers with Stevie. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and said good night to her and her friends.
Terina: "Isn't he gorgeous?" once they were headed ot the car.
Star: "He IS very cute," she opened the car doors. They got in and were silent the rest of the way home. All three of the girls were tired and just wanted to get to bed.
Terina awoke the next morning with a slight headache and her mouth was dry. She hadn't been drunk but she knew she had a bit to drink. At the thought of the previous night, the memories of Stevie came flooding back. She had been dancing really close with him. Too close to have it be a ploy. She got dressed and popped two painkillers
in her mouth. Looking at the clock, she realized if she didn't hurry, she would be late for her waitress job.

Nique sat at her desk at work, nursing a huge hangover. She was regretting drinking so much when her phone rang.
"Hey baby," came the familiar voice of her boyfriend. "How was your night?"
Nique: "I've got a hangover," if that would explain it all. She suddenly remembered what she had found out.
Nique: "Oh! And I think I was wrong about Terina and Talib."
Lami paused: "... oh?"
Nique: "Yeah, ‘cause when I asked her last night about it, and she denied it and was totally all over this guy she met... Stevie or something... he was SO into her!"
Lami: "Are you sure?"
Nique:"Yeah, why?"
Lami: "Because Talib confessed to it last night."
Nique sat there, stunned: "He what?"
Lami: "You heard me. He admitted to having strong feelings for Terina."
