The big Louise and whoever deal was all about "choice". Well, guess what. I don't have any choices as it is, and I didn't then. I do not get to choose a doctor, unless I want to pay a fortune, I have to pick one off an "approved" list. I don't get to choose hospitals, I don't get to choose treatments, I don't get to choose much of anything.

The companies tossed choice out the window.

So they've got nothing left, not even fear of "taking away your family doctor", because they already did that.

Yes, everyone "rations" health care in terms of "will this guy live long enough"? My father is under that regime right now, he's too far gone to stay with any of us, he has to have round the clock care, and at the same time, he isn't bad enough for hospice care, that only kicks in if the doctor says he's within six months of death. So that's rationed by the doctor and the state together.

So that's just the way it is. My father would likely live another five years if he had a pacemaker, except that the operation would probably kill him. That's nature rationing him off that option.

Everything is rationing in a sense. But health care has become so pointed at the few at the very top, that its no longer a system most of us are willing to tolerate.
