In reply to:
Robin (for Randy again)
's message, "Re: Redneck and BQ haiku" on 22:54:03 07/02/03 Wed
And my reply:
Robin, a slave to
British pop culture, rattles
her gold chains, and dreams...
Pubs, great wine and cheese,
Changing Rooms, blackbirds--keep her
on this green island.
In contrast, Texas
offers the Bush family,
guns, chiggers, and heat.
To Robin, the heat
is the best part--except for
the low house prices.
A miniscule flat
in Surrey, or a ranch house
on half an acre?
Both available for
a thousand a month (but lawn
mowers cost extra).
Anyway, Robin
has cast the dice--she's headed
back to SAT.
Pray she remembers
to drive on the right, and how
to eat tamales.
Or, once again,
she'll hear the phrase: You ain't from
around here, are you?
