As I was reading the scene in which Gallimard is with Rene, the student. It just seemed to come out of nowhere at first and the more I thought about it, I guess Gallimard felt that he was more of a man by having this affair and for once he felt like a women actually desired him. I was just curious of how others would interpret why Hwang would put that into the play.
