The number of female pundits is limited by the vacancies available. I'm sure there are plenty more who think they are experts. As for commentators, I have no issue if they get the job on merit. But I suspect there is tokenism involved. Plus, I have to admit, I don't really enjoy hearing a girls voice commentating on the mens game. But that might only be because I'm an old fart. -- SW6.doc

There is one woman commentator who’s voice really gets to me forget her name, there’s also a few male commentators that I can’t stand either. Also as much as I love gentleman Jim, and I do. He is a terrible commentator, half the time you have no clue what’s going on as he doesn’t actual tell you what’s happening , and him and Jamie love to go off on rants about things that have nothing to do with the game. - I have no problem with female pundits if they are knowledgeable or insightful - no different from the men. Many old pros offer v little insight to games whereas decent football analysts like Adam Clery of 442 offer way more insight. Also no problem with female anchors - Gabby Logan/Kelly Cates as good as any. Do struggle with many/most female commentators since voices get a bit screechy when excited or under stress.   - and don't get me started on co-commentators -can’t stand any of them which is one reason why I watch almost no football shown live on TV these days. Just wish the co-commentators would understand that less is much much more. Fulham games are the worst - if we are not playing well don't need bleedin Steve McManaman or Alan Smith constantly to bang on about it.     - I think you don't need the playing experience to be a pundit - I think most ex pros don't have the work ethic or the intellectual rigour to match the best analysts - the BBC lot have next to no analytical insights whatsoever - they just pitch up and wing it.
