I see a lot of the blame for performances is being laid at the strikers feet. Yes Muniz has missed a few chances and Jimenez is now off the mark. Spurs paid 80 million for Solanke and he yet to score, just to try and put into some context into this argument. If we look at our games this season we should never have lost at United and did not deserve too. We won against Leicester and if we are hones should have had all three points against West Ham. Crazy penalty shoot and a terrible miss from 5 yards sums up the second eleven performance , plus a catalogue of missed opportunities. The plusses are we are in our Premiership games playing at a good pace, keeping possession well and creating lots of chances. I guess what I am trying to say is that goals are the responsibility of the whole team not just the strikers, although clearly they need to score. We have played 4 games have 5 points and sit in twelfth position. Had we collected the 3 points against West Ham we would have been in eighth position. I know you will say the reality is twelfth. In all honesty it has not been a bad start, it's easy to focus on the negatives rather than the positives and there are quiet a few of those. Big game Saturday and hopefully we can get the three point, no easy games in this league.

Makes sense that people are deflated given the optimism heading to the season. With the league always a mid-table grind, people look forward to things like cup runs, youth come through & fluid attacking football. Good post. I agree with everything (except that you called the “premier league” the “premiership” but I know I’m a pedantic p***k). Football is a game of such fine margins and all you can do is give yourself the best opportunity of, essentially, being lucky. We haven’t been very lucky so far but could still improve e.g. be tighter at the back and more clinical in front of goal. But overall we are playing quite well imho and think we need to keep the faith. I think there’s something else that may be being missed here. We lost two of our back 6 field players. We bought replacements but did not immediately play them. We know that is Marco’s way. As we assume he wants to impart his methods to the newbies. So I suspect MS knew results like ours were quite possible. My (less expert) concerns are that when they do start, there’s an element of starting from scratch in the white heat of the game.
