Rowan leaned against the open door and crossed his arms, an amused look on his face as he watched Jeremy panting and trying to get himself under control on the bed. The boy’s face was very flushed as he gripped the sides of the mattress, his obvious arousal serving to ignite a flicker of pleased desire within Rowan.

He was seized with the sudden urge to push his little friend back against the bed and tug his pants down over his narrow hips so he could give him his little oral demonstration immediately. Actually, he kind of wondered how far he could take him without even touching him, like he’d been doing, whispering into his ear and brushing his fingers against the soft skin of his inner thighs.

He snickered rather wicked; probably all the way, and maybe even faster than usual, too. After a while, Jeremy managed to get himself to calm down, though, so Rowan had to put the thought on hold. He raised an eyebrow when the kid marched up to him and literally issued a challenge to see who could bed Marz first. Rowan wrapped an arm around his waist as he slipped past him, pushing his mouth momentarily close to one of his pierced ears.

“I’m not going to take your money, sari,” he said kindly, though there was an ever present rakish tone to his voice. Jeremy scowled and moved ahead, striding confidently toward the kitchen. Rowan followed behind, and felt strangely touched when he saw an obviously somewhat inebriated Tristan sitting cradled in Marz’s lap.

Suddenly, he didn’t think very highly of Marz, double crossing the person who so obviously loved him, even though he was the person doing his damnedest to entice the youth away from his admittedly beautiful lover. (He’d always hated acknowledging how hot the dragon was—probably on account of his eternally snotty attitude.) After all, he knew what it was like to be in love, pining after someone who wanted nothing to do with you for whatever sorry reason they managed to scrounge up.

He never could figure out why anyone would try so hard to keep him out of their bed. Maybe that was why he didn’t really mind so much, being the person helping Marz to cheat. Besides, he wasn’t exactly the dragon’s biggest fan, even if he could manage to feel a bit sorry for him.

He was about to open his mouth to say something, when he managed to catch Jeremy winking at Marz from the corner of his eye. The ex-gang leader looked totally thrown off by the gesture, and all it succeeded in doing was cause Rowan to get a sudden stomach cramp from trying not to laugh.

“Look,” he said softly, turning to Jeremy, “Let’s make this a fair bet. How about I give you a few pointers on how to…” he searched for the least offensive sounding way to put this, “…attract someone of Marz’s…caliber?” He grinned impishly. “I could really make it worth your while, you know, kiddo.”

Tristan laid his head down against Marz’s right shoulder and closed his eyes while waiting for a reply to his request about the rings. Somehow he knew he wasn’t going to go for it. He wasn’t sure why he felt that way, but he did. Of course, Marz was always the one who wanted to be more affectionate in public, so he guessed it didn’t make much sense. And he was the one who’d bought their matching earrings, too, a few nights before they had actually become lovers.

When Marz didn’t answer right away, though, Tristan lifted his head and stared at him, his expression turning rather impatient. Marz snapped out of whatever daze he was in and smiled up at him. “Yeah, I like the idea of matching rings,” he said, entangling his hand up in Tristan’s hair again so he could push their heads together for another soft kiss.

Tristan felt a little tingle run down his spine when he heard those words. He nodded enthusiastically when Marz went on to promise they’d go shopping at the next city they came to. At the moment, he wasn’t really thinking about what the rings should look like, but he thought an engraving would be nice. He wasn’t so sure about the gems, though. Sounded kinda girlie to him.

At this point, he finally noticed Noyko, Jeremy, and now Rowan all sitting in the kitchen around the table. His eyes met Noy’s briefly, the other youth’s answering stare sending a strange shiver of desire through him. Suddenly, he didn’t want to look at anyone else besides Marz anymore, so he turned nimbly in his lap, swinging one leg up and over until he sat with his knees around his lover’s waist, facing him.

“Much better,” he said, smiling softly as he wrapped his arms loosely around his neck. The position didn’t exactly serve to lessen his sudden arousal, but at least he didn’t have to stare at Noyko and his crazy hypnotic-looking eyes. “I’m so happy you want to get the rings!” he added, his face brightening even more. When he moved in to hug him tightly though, a funny feeling washed over him, as if he could feel the three sets of eyes boring into his back.

“Marz, I think I’m starting to sober up a bit,” he whispered, closing his eyes. He felt Marz’s hands wrap possessively around his waist, but he refused to open his eyes. “You know what I was thinking,” he continued quietly, “I was thinking maybe we should start working on the second chakra now.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, he started to snore lightly, his body relaxing completely against his lover’s. From across the table, Rowan snorted and moved to kick Marz’s foot under the table. “Hey, you,” he said, grinning crookedly, “I need to speak with you in private for a minute. Just for a minute.” His eyes wandered over Tristan’s body for a second, his smile widening. “When you have the time, that is.”

“Time,” Tristan said suddenly, lifting his head to stare directly into Marz’s eyes again. “Oh, I have an idea. Why don’t we go flying?” He tilted his head slightly to plant little kisses all over his lover’s face, momentarily forgetting about the other people in the room. “I haven’t taken you flying in a long time. Wanna go?”
