But first off, Paul's daughter wasn't supposed to seal the breach with the Harkonnen's, that was Alia, Jessica's daughter. And there were no more Harkonnens to speak of really, and since Paul became Emperor, no breach.

Once the Jihad has started though, even Paul knows that it cannot be stopped even with his death (and that is from Dune Messiah).
And again I disagree with the opinion that he prolonged the Jihad.
His visions saw the child and saw the best way to bring it about and he followed that path.

If he had the ability to take a better path that cause less suffering, he would have taken it. But he took the one that he thought was the best overall, not for purely selfish reasons.

if he were selfish as you say, i think he would have not let Chani become pregnant, he would have let the Jihad continue and let it be more bloody.
He would have not been blinded by the stone burner, and he would have brought Chani back in ghola form if she were killed.
