Unless I've got this very badly wrong (please tell me I have), the RAH organ will be totally out of commission at this point in time. Such a momentous event will be utterly _ruined_ and robbed of its potentially shattering impact by having to use some pathetic travesty of a hopeless attempt to impersonate the organ with an electronic version. Even the full viscerally thundering power of the RAH organ is only just enough for the most overwhelming passage in orchestral music, at the final stages of Mahler's triumph to end all triumphs. It should leave you speechless, and quite possibly with severe trouble maintaining any degree of control. Instead of which it'll be limp and underpowered. On and off, I've waited 15 years for Rattle to tackle the eighth for the first time. Damn and blast it to hell! Not that I'm dissappointed or anything.....
