 In the light of the terrible news from the United States of America I cannot now see that the Last Night celebrations should take place. I therefore propose that the BBC should cancel the concert, preferably altogether, but at least in its present form, in sympathy with the people of the United States of America. I would seek to gain all your support for this proposal.
