Unbelievable finish to the men’s Ivy tournament. The atmosphere for the three men’s games I saw was electric. Brown fans were celebrating their win in that last minute and reasonably so but Yale had a comeback that will be savored for years to come by Elis. The Columbia venue leaves a lot to be desired but New York is absolutely where this tournament should be held. All four schools had strong crowd support. Can’t we make a deal with Joe Tsai (a huge Yale supporter) and get the Barclays Center for the tournaments? Yale and Harvard filled MSG for in-season hockey games about a decade ago and I believe Harvard and Cornell did so later - I think a tournament at Barclays (or MSG obviously) would attract an audience and be s great recruiting tool for the League.

At this moment following a thrilling last second win by Yale, I understand your wishing that the Championship Game had been played at the Barclays Center before a very big crowd. However, even if Joe Tsai is a huge Yale supporter and willing to support the event it would require a huge amount of hard work, skill and enthusiasm to pull it off. I am not sure the Ivy League sports folk have the necessary resources to make it happen. Still it's a great idea!

Adding to my prior post, I wonder what exactly you don't like about the Columbia venue other than the obvious disparity in size between Columbia's Levien Gymnasium and Brooklyn's Barclay Center. There isn't much difference between Levien and Yale's John Lee Amp. and for that matter, most of the other Ivy League schools. Of course, Princeton's Gym and Penn's Palestra are much larger, but it would be patently absurd and unfair to hold the Tournament only at those two abodes. Incidentally, it must have been very difficult for the Columbia Men's Basketball Team players to watch the
Championship Game today. Our Men's Team finished near the
bottom of the Ivy League with a a 4-10 record under one of the worst performing coaches in the United States. It is a mystery to every Columbia Basketball Fan why our Athletic Director Peter Pilling has not terminated him years ago. Watching the Ivy League Tournament from the sidelines has to be a painful experience for the Columbia players. Mr. Pilling, as Columbia's AD has an obligation explain to Columbia fans why he has not terminated the Men's Basketball Coach. Absent his replacing the coach this week, he needs to give an immediate full and reasonable written explanation to Columbia Fans as to why he is not doing so.

“Other than the disparity in size” ?? You must be joking.

Why din’t you tell us about how for a tripleheader on Saturday they scheduled locker room and press facilities and friends locations and league offices and….

Minimum requirement: Stabler at Lehigh, a fabulous neutral facility with 8000 seats designed to handle the EIWA. Or, a step up to either Barclay’s or The Rock in Newark, smack on the train lines from anywhere in the Northeast.

Go big or go home.

Levien has uncomfortable bleacher seats, a sound system where the announcements seemed on par with those you might ‘hear’ on a crowded 1 train and only holds 2700 or so. There were good things: it was an intense experience for the teams and the crowd and it was on Columbia’s beautiful campus (so much nicer than during my law school days there) but I think the Ivy League should be more ambitious. Getting away from the rotation around the league would avoid the issue of home court advantage skewing the results thst arguably contributed to a Yale win in 2019 and a Princeton one in 2023. And the game should be held in a City with easy access and a central location. Maybe the Prudential Center would work well enough but New York is . . . New York. We should aim high.
