Auburn never knew what hit’em . Auburn tried to intimidate Yale . But Yale countered took them on. Great for Yale , Great for the Ivy League. Go Bulldogs.

Who gets the 2nd bid, Princeton, who just lost at home to a middle of the pack Mountain West Conference team? Start winning your guarantee games on the road, EVERYONE, and you'll get the 2nd bid. remember, only 4 at large bids went to non-FBS schools. And, I'll ask again- do we agree that James Jones belongs on the Mt Rushmore of Ivy BB Coaches, with Carril, Daly and Dunphy?

Regarding your Princeton loss obsession, one game doesn't prove anything as to whether you belong.

As stated previously, I think some other teams were more deserving of bids based on overall season records, but your specific mode of "analysis" leaves a lot to be desired.

The best 68 teams in early March get selected. Clearly Princeton was not one of them, based on their overall body of work. Beating up on the bottom half of the Ivy League, then losing in the league semis said it, a loss to a mid pack MWC team verified it.

Of course, that’s not true. You might attempt to argue that the best 36 at-large teams get invited (although that gets us back to the NET discussion), but that has nothing to do with the 32 AQs. Which I think we all agree is a great thing allowing the Oaklands of the world to drive the Kentuckys crazy.

You might also go easy on the hyperbole regarding the league schedule, which saw the Tigers beat every other team at least once, including both Yale and Cornell the last time they played.

Might I suggest, respectfully, that you make like a "Ghost" and disappear from this forum? Perhaps you should troll on the SEC forum and point out why they should not been an 8 bid league.

Way to go Yale! Ivy has now won 75% of its tournament games over the past two years. Perhaps our Ghostly visitor can research and let us know how many conferences have done better.

If you think I'm an Ivy hater, why doesn't anyone agree with me that James Jones is one of the league's all time greatest coaches? This is an Ivy forum, and we're talking Ivy sports. 4 at large bids to non-FBS schools but you think Princeton deserved one, despite not even making the league final.

Time's up, Mr. Ghost, so I did some quick research myself. The Ivy's 75% winning percentage in '23 and '24 falls just below the Big East (78%). No other conference is even close to those 2, with almost all of the others (all but the ACC) falling at or below 50%. I realize that the sample size makes this a bit 'apples to oranges', at least with respect to the IL, but it certainly demonstrates that the two (non-BCS football) conferences with the best records to this point have both been grossly disrespected by the NCAA selection committee and their performance has validated that reality.

As to your continuing diss of PU since they did not make the finals of the ILT, fair point, but take a look at the top 4 seeds in the tournament and note how many failed to make or win the finals of their conference tournaments. It's a big number. Last year, Yale didn't win the ILT, but as Coach Jones, whom you correctly note is a tremendous and egregiously under appreciated coach, stated in interviews today, the Eli last year could absolutely have won a couple of games. That they had no shot to prove that last year was a shame.

Pure Ivy-flavored speculation on the 'coulda, shoulda' thought, but now we have 3 Big East teams (both at-large selections) in the Sweet Sixteen plus Seton Hall in Round 2 of the NIT (Nova and Prov out)- the Ivies will end up 1-3 in post season. Still, major props to Yale for beating Auburn, they got exposed last night. So, the case for Princeton as an at large gets weaker.

Princeton had a terrific season, can't take that away, just not NCAA-worthy. Indiana State, with similar in-season credentials, making their statement so far. Excellent statistical analysis with a tiny sample of one team, your best, each year in the research. And thank you for being the ONLY person on this board to agree that James Jones is one of the Ivy League's All Time best basketball coaches. NO OTHER VOTES FOR THIS?
