Mid Hudson News - NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh may hire a consulting company to explore the possibility of bringing minor league baseball to Delano-Hitch Stadium.

Twice before minor league baseball failed in the city, because of among other reasons, poor attendance.

City Councilman Anthony Grice’s initial reaction during discussion Thursday night was positive. “I see our mayor throwing that first pitch and us up in those booths eating some good food and watching a baseball game,” he said. “I really think it will highlight that area to become an economic engine plus an attraction, period.”

The cost of the study is $50,000.

About 10 miles east across the Hudson River, Dutchess Stadium has been the home of the Hudson Valley Renegades Minor League Baseball team, now a New York Yankees affiliate.

SO......it FAILED twice before and what...third try is a charm??????....there was and still is another stadium ten miles away....there is still no market here in Newburgh...there is no interest for others to drive into this crime ridden city...there is no adequate, safe parking...there is competition from other entertainment venues.... there is nothing here for home team players to move to....all this is known but the city can afford $50,000 to be told by some Texas firm....who really profits?????

So why ...so the mayor can pleasure himself throwing out the first ball!!!!LMAO!!!!
