Or-

do parents know or do young adults know when their teachers are cheating for them? is that even a thing?

This is how it works- if they get lucky and their buddies are on a panel, you'll see dancers place high- if not, they won't place as high.

Asking is cheating though, plain and simple. And I'm 100% sure it wasn't the first or last time it happened.
