Everyone is ready to jump at OSC and trash them about everything but many of you may not know that they actually gave back their medals and sashes that they had EARNED and WON because there were not enough to go around. These medals and sashes then most likely are hanging around your daughters/sons necks at the moment. So instead of bashing OSC for everything you didnt like maybe you should think about thanking them for givnig back their medals/sashes. How would you feel if your daughter/son had to give back their medal/sash that they worked very hard to get? You'd probably be upset like most of the dancers at OSC were but they did it anyway to make other people happy.

I have NEVER seen so many rude comments about O'Shea Chaplin. They are a wonderful school so STOP trashing them. There is NOTHING you can do about where they sat now so GET OVER it. they werent the only school who sat/practiced in the hall so stop it. the girls/boys there are wonderful and are very nice.

Moderator please delete the rude posts about them!

I'd just like to say that with all the comments about certain schools at the O, people need to remember that the behavior they are commenting on, whether it be poor sportsmanship (tears for not placing better, comments about other dancers, etc) good sportsmanship (supporting your classmates that did not recall, supporting your classmates even when you did not recall, supporting friends from other schools, etc) rudeness in the hallways, inconsideration of others including the elderly, groups of kids that feel entitled to public spaces without consideration to others ... all this comes down to parenting. The way children behave in public is not so much a reflection on their dance school - though to some degree it is - but a reflection on these kids' parents. If parents are not teaching their kids to be thoughtful, considerate and caring individuals, it shows.
Just one point though, our teachers did tell our kids that they should remember to respect the venue, and respect others. But if the parents can't offer a good example, you get what you get...

In past years NE dancers have qualified for Nationals either at the Oireachtas or by being in Open Championships. Has that changed? Do Open dancers automatically qualify?

Loved the new venue, lots of room to be had though not everyone took advantage. Still had to climb over groups either sitting on the floor, practicing in the hallways either doing solos and almost getting kicked or through groups practicing and getting looks as if "I disturbed them" because I needed to pass.
Rows of seats being held by bags or shoes during competitions and awards leaving many and some elderly to stand in doorway or not see their own kids up on stage. Both young and old standing infront of stage during awards so noone could see and being told to sit or kneel down so everyone could see-but yet continue standing.
Coming off stage crying because you didn't place higher than expected, what kind of message does that give the little ones. I've told my little ones it's a priveledge to be able to dance whether win or lose and that's how i would want my child to act during awards. Yes, it is a disappointment after working so hard but not the end of the world. For most, there's next year. Life is too short

I had a question, how come they dont give trophies or crystal to all boys? There are only a few in each comp and i hate to see that they go home without somnething with such few in each competition. My daughter said something to me of that effect and i did not know the answer. Just wondering if anyone knew?
