Subject: Why would anyone participate/allow their child to participate in Irish dance in 2024, knowing what we know now? To do so is to actively condone and support cheaters.

but the bottom 50% should absolutely walk away- we are just paying the bills- allowing these events to run for little to no benefit except to let our children continue to work and miss recall by a place because someone texted to make sure their dancer gets a special look, thus knocking everyone down the line.

Cheating doesn't just impact the box placers or the WQs. The trickle down effect impacts all. And the demoralizing nature of it has to be taken into account as well. These kids will eventually be teenagers who can make their own decisions and I don't want to be on the firing end of questions as to why I kept taking them to an activity that took up SO MUCH time for something that doesn't have any true merit.

Competitive Irish Dance is not a healthy or wholesome environment given the known corruption. It's embarrassing to be associated with it.

surely there are ways to celebrate Irish heritage and Irish Dance and leave the competing to those that are ok with the cheating.
