It's a long drive, but the western end of the North Channel on Lake Huron near Whitefish Falls is REALLY remote and has bazillions of islands to explore, and has a super interesting geology. Navigating would be a real challenge, and their isn't a lot on the 'net about the trip. The best thing is that it's still a wilderness adventure, but much less intimidating from a kayaking perspective than Beaver Island.

I say we drop a car off at Serpent Harbor, drive to Whitefish Falls & put in. The paddle from Whitefish Falls back to Serpent Harbor is ~65 miles / 5 days with minimal chance for weather like we found on the Rock Island trip (there are lots of islands to hide behind). It's a 7 day trip.
