The level of music at any gig is ultimately under the control of the landlord, licencee or Steward of the Premises.
Their main concern is their licence and livelyhood....Let's face it, Terry does have his little fiobles about certain things, but in his defence he very rarely complains about the volume, thats because Colin monitors that himself....!
On this occasion the volume was so overwhelming that Terry ran upstairs and gave Colin a point blank directive.......
It is not uncommon knowledge that Jamie does not like to have to lower the volume....The bass player turned to mixer
after Colin spoke to him and twiddled the volume a bit to the left, then a bit to right (that old Gag) and the second number was just the same. Whoopy-doo....here came Terry again, with even more veins standing out in is neck! After being told to turn down a second time,it was Teddy Throwing time for Jamie....Guitar went down to a silly level, gain left high and it sounded pants!!! Jamie knew exacly what he was doing," here we are then,it sound pants, blame the management!" he continued to play with a face like a slapped bum with none of the usual witty banter! A number of regular Bluesdragon Goers came to the top of the stairs during the first two numbers and refused to enter the club and did an about turn on the march. The whole thing could have been avoided, had Jamie adjusted the levels sensibly...
He knows exactly what he's doing ! Colin & Rory were innocent parties, Worried Men are a really good band, but they are not just there for their own enjoyment,I suspect that unless they can exercise some restraint with their levels the choice whether to come back or not will not be theirs.
PS: The band played at the Cafe Jazz the previous Friday, they we told to turn the volume down three times at the request of the management, over half the punters left at the half time break complaining to Rory & Greg that the volume was painful !!! No Need for that!
