I believe people would continue to create even without copyright laws. If you are a creative person, I do not think that the law would prevent you from expressing yourself. However, whether you would be willing to share your creation if you knew that someone would steal the idea or claim they created the work that seems to me to be the real issue. Many countries do not abide by the same copyright laws that the US follows and for example I heard that Coca Cola will not sell its product in China because to sell a product in the Chinese marketplace requires that a company submit a blueprint (in this case the Coke formula) to the government before a product is approved for sale. The Chinese government sells the product information to Chinese companies and that is why you can buy watches that look exactly like a Rolex, purses that look just like Gucci bags, etc. I personally purchased several pens that looked exactly like MontBlanc pens for $5 each at a huge flea market in Florida. These companies are losing money due to the cheaper knockoffs of their product on the market. Therefore, I can see why they want the copyright laws enforced in all countries.
