In reply to: JM 's message, "Re: A brain damaged child's life..." on 09/ 2/04 9:32pm

Thank you JM for straightening that out - sort of. You just don't seem to want to "really" say what you mean or give an opinion - just kind of a hit and run, drive by response. One has to guess what you mean and that is IMO irritating.

But, let's pretend that you believe that the Republicans are responsible for all the ills of the world which in my opinion is bizarre.

We've had plenty of Republican presidents, notably Reagan, Bush, Sr., Ford, Nixon, etc., etc. They did nothing about "tort reform", nor has Bush, Jr. for that matter, but now you want to blame them for the fact that $30 million awards don't stand? Puleese!

Listen up, JM. I am a Democrat - but I hold myself out as being a thinking person's Democrat. I am not a "Party Wonk", IOW, there are some things I do not agree with, and outrageous and exhorbitant jury awards are one of them.

I love Geoff Fieger and in most things I totally agree. He is a civil rights activist and God Bless him for that - it needs to be done by people who have a loud voice. And I believe that people who have been abused and used and offended should be compensated. But I do not believe that the sky is the limit. There is a limit - always there is a limit.

No single person's pain is more than, or worse than, another person's pain.

Remember the old adage: If everyone hung their troubles and their pain out on the clothes line and it started to rain - we would all go out and grab our own.

End of rant.
