"It is true," he said quietly, continuing the thread she had hoped to end, "that there are those among us who remain marked by our battles, while others go unfazed." The cerulean eyes swept away from the copper pelt, glancing westawrd. "But then again, we who are branded often have much deeper wounds."

As he spoke, his piercing gaze boldly sought out Lenariah's and held it, seemingly questioning. With a quick and obviously insincere grin though, any further musings on his words was delayed.

"She is a priceless creature; loyal, spirited, and dedicated. I have a feeling the two of you will be quite the pair." While he was speaking, Tevion had retrieved the currycomb and had come aside his guest. Gently, he took her hand in his and placed them both atop the brush, then slowly began to demonstrate the movement. "You go against the grain of growth; small circular motions."

The rich, soft murmuring of his voice had a soothing effect, the sounds of the lea fading away. When he apparently assured himself of Lenariah's capability, he took up the hoofpick. Running his long fingers down the prominent sinews on the back of the steed's legs, he deftly caught the limb as it flexed upward and removed the buildup. Seeing his work partner had completed the first brushing, he traded tools with her and went on to the soft brush, swiping its bristles with the grain of the bronze coat.

"You say you have heard of the great battle steeds, the fierce mounts of knights? I have seen them, and I pity them. The Men in their eagerness mishandle the creatures from birth, raising them vicious and ruling them by only the most severe means." There was a flare of spite in his voice; so clear was it his opposition to such methods. "My ways are different; they require patience and an open mind. Would it suprise you to know that even this animal here is well-trained in combative techniques? All of there horses are." Vaguely, his slender hand waved over his shoulder. "Yet I did not have to break their spirits to make them learn. I never have, and never will."
