The small hand on his knee made S�peer look up a little, and his expression changed � a weary smile appearing at the sight of his daughter. He had never planned on having children; a family seemed well out of his reach. But now Salzay had come into his life, and he liked her already. Even if he had known her for barely half an hour. Maybe if he asked Halzay he could see the girl more often � actually be a father, if the greenrider would let him. If being the operative word in the situation. S�peer didn�t really think that she would want him to see his daughter. The anger he had seen mixed with the fear in her eyes made him doubt that he would get any time with Salzay.

Though how her family could think he left her high and dry, S�peer didn�t know. He hadn�t been told about Salzay, so how could they blame him for not being around to look after her? If there was one thing S�peer didn�t like, it was being blamed for something he didn�t do. But then, with one count of assault and one of rape on his record, people were bound to think the worst of him�

�Thanks, Sally.� He said, putting his larger, rough hand on hers for a moment. �Would you tell her that I say thank you for agreeing to talk to me?� He would find Halzay later, when he had spoken to Maria � he didn�t want to think about what she must think of him right now. �Be careful on the way back, alright?�
