• He urged Jackie to go lay down and convinced her that he would send Rio up if he saw him before he finally got down the stairs and into the kitchen. Casting a look over his shoulder, he saw her sitting on the sofa. A frown crossed his face he gazed at her for a second before he finally spoke even as he was walking into the kitchen. • She heard him coming down the stairs and knew without looking that it was him, but she did glance back and up when he spoke, pausing a moment before nodding ever-so-slightly with an attempted smile. • She set about making a sandwich just the way he liked it for him - soup would be enough for her - and shrugged a little, glancing over every few moments. "Alright I guess... The weather was nice. For a while there, she had believed that maybe it would be different this time around, but then something far stronger than her self-control would call, and she couldn't resist.   • She was silent for a few moments longer as she rearranged things in the fridge and then turned to face him, her delicate features twisted into a troubled frown. Her fingers curled gently in the fabric of his shirt at his chest, then relaxed to smooth in back into place, and then finally settled for just gently toying with small creases that she had created. • She wasn't hungry anymore, so she just stood there dejectedly as he moved away from her, and then quietly pushed her bowl away to let it cool on the counter before she wrapped it up and tucked it in the fridge to be reheated by some hungry soul at a later date. Completely silent for a long time, she just tidied up the mess in the kitchen with hands that trembled slightly - inhaling sharp but quiet breaths every few moments, as if she kept forgetting to breathe. Finally, she moved to sit on the edge of a chair across from him, just watching him for a moment before speaking. "What am I supposed to say to you, Kaden? That's not who I am. • She crossed her arms under her chest and exhaled a long breath, jaw tightening and then relaxing. He was right and she deserved to be hearing it, but she didn't know how to fix things - but maybe things were unfixable and that was why she couldn't figure it out. "I don't know what to do... • Her fingers brushed his cheek slowly and then twisted gently into his hair as she tugged his head back a little so that she could press a sweet kiss to the side of his mouth. Whether she was a reluctant participant or not, he was trying desperately to help her and for that, she would be forever grateful to him. • "Yeah..." Stress tied his stomache up in knots so he wasn't really all that hungry to begin with. He stood up to his full height - which really wasn't all that tall - and placed a hand on the small of her back, guiding her up towards the bedrooms. • She was glad for his guidance upstairs because she wasn't feeling much like doing anything else. Pushing into his room - because it was always so dark and cozy and safe feeling - she tugged him in after her and then padded barefoot over to the bed while he shut the door.
