Subject: Anyone ever have a Thoraco-lumbar Laminectomy? [sorta sounds like velociraptor ham-n-egg-n-cheese]

My son just had one today, a velociraptor ham-n-egg-n-cheese.
At least I thought that's what the doc called it. Probably because I hadn't eaten breakfast when they took him in this morning.

In layman's terms - 'de-tethering the spinal cord'.
Basically the Spinal cord became 'anchored', while his body entered a major growth spurt, causing 'tension' resulting in spasms with stiffness and contracture in the muscles and joints. This should help reduce spasms and contracture in his lower extremities, and discomfort from trying to do range of motion therapies that keep him limber. (He's paralyzed from the belly-button on down.)

Momma's staying with him all week, and I'll be back and forth between home and hospital. Unfortunately you can't just open a 40 lb bag of food on the floor for the other 2 kids and expect them to really get to and from school too. But I know they would pee outside. J/K

BTW
I also learned another $20 term recently. (I want to get my money's worth out of it too. But I won't charge you for it Sporty)
Acanthosis Nigricans.
A darkening of the neck that can be an indicator of diabetic like conditions.
