For language, of course it's the King James version. But that one isn't a good translation, and it's missing some books. :-)
I'll read any Catholic version. No preference.
I won't use any of the Protestant versions, because they don't have all of the books that the Catholic versions have.

Joan, I wasn't even thinking clearly. Of course you would prefer the Catholic bible! How silly of me. Do you know how many transalations there are?! I was shocked at so many!! I prefer the new King James version although one bible gifted to me by my son, which I read a lot, is the American Standard version. We have several bibles here, but I don't own a new King James version, so I read Terry's mostly. That's his preference too.

I have the New American Bible Catholic version. -- Joan, 14:23:44 09/02/07 Sun [1] (ip68-0-253-131.ri.ri.cox.net/68.0.253.131)
And I have the old family Bible, but I'm not sure what version it is. I don't read that one, because I want to keep it in good condition. Well, it's really not that old. It belonged to my Grandmother, but I think she got it as a gift fairly late in life.
Do any of you have an old family Bible?
Joan

I would have loved to have had my Grandmother's bible! We have Terry's grandpa's bible. But there are too many relatives on both sides for either of us to have anything very old. He and I are low on the totem pole of the family tree. A lot more relatives will have to die before we ever get any of the very old, old bibles. That's okay too. We rather have the family here. :)
